RECP REGIS JUL 20)

I am directed by the Secretary of State for India

to acknowledge receipt of your letter No.28826/20 dated

22nd June regarding alleged Chinese activities in the

United States of America against Great Britain.

A copy of the correspondence is being sent to the

Government of India and pending the receipt from them of

any comments they may wish to offer, Mr. Montagu would

prefer to reserve his own observations.

In the meantime I am to suggest that further

information should be sought as to the status and

ante-cedents of Mr. Harry L. Carr, without which it is

difficult to estimate the value to be placed upon his state-

ments.

I have the honour to be, Sir,

Your obedient Servant,

Jr. Shuckburg

The Under Secretary of State,

Colonial Office.
